Primex & Märklin Equivalents
Closest Equivalent in the Märklin line (differences in brackets)

Most Primex-coaches have less detailing than the quivalent Märklin-coaches. This means that the silver (or sometimes black) window frames are missing. The interior, whether it is present in the Märklin coach, is always missing in the Primex equivalent. Primex coaches also don't have the undergarment-plate at the bottom of the coach. Primex-coaches also lack the white covers on toilet windows. Primex-coaches never have a weathered roof.

Märklin 4112
- Weathered roof
- White covers on toilet windows
- Undergarment plate
- Interior fittings
- Silver window frames

Primex 4198
- Plain roof
- No covers on toilet windows
- No undergarments
- No interior
- No window frames

Coaches offered both with cellon and plastic windows

Märklin started offering the classic 24cm coaches with cellon windows when they were first introduced. In the mid-sixties, production shifted from cellon to plastic. Here is a comparison of all the coaches that were affected by this change in production technique.

Coaches offered only with cellon windows

Here is a list of all the coaches that don't have a version available with plastic windows. Mostly it includes all the short coaches as well as all the 22cm coaches that never got the upgrade. Also, the older D-Train, Swedish and Swiss ca. 21cm coaches naturally never got plastic windows. The only exception in the list are the two Swedish 4030 & 4031. These are the only 24cm coaches that were never offered with the plastic window upgrade.
